METHOD FOR PRODUCING TOCOPHEROL AND TOCOTRIENOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively recovering tocopherol and tocotrienols in concentrated state from a raw material containing a small amount of tocopherol and tocotrienols in a large amount of fatty acid. SOLUTION: Free fatty acids and fatty acid glycerides in palm oil fatty acid distillate (PFAD) are subjected to esterification or transesterification with a lipase to form a fatty acid lower alcohol ester and concentrated tocopherol or tocotrienol is separated by distillation or treatment with an anion-exchange resin.
