PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a document management system which can reliably and promptly transfer document information even when read document information is already changed and which has excellent certainty and transmission speed of information communication. SOLUTION: In the document management system in which an information processing server system, a client device and an e-mail server system are connected with one another through a network and the document information held in the information processing server system is perusable in the client device, the information processing server system receives and stores already read information and, when the document information is updated, transmits an instruction that updated update document information is to be distributed to a person who has already read the document information by e-mail to the e-mail server system on the basis of the the already read information. The e-mail server system receives the instruction and automatically distributes the update document information to the person who has already read the document information according to the instruction.
