PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a biaryl compound in no need of an expensive reagent and a toxic substance through simple after-treatment with industrial advantage. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the biaryl compound according to this invention, an aryl hydrazine and an aryl compound are allowed to react with oxygen. In a preferred embodiment, this oxidation reaction is carried out in the presence of at least one selected from the group consisting of a Group Va elementary metal or a compound thereof, a Group VIa elementary metal or a compound thereof, a Group VIIa elementary metal or a compound thereof, a Group VIIIa elementary metal or a compound thereof, a Group Ib elementary metal or a compound thereof and a Group Vb elementary metal or a compound thereof whereby the biaryl compound can be produced in more increased yield.
