PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing a decahydronaphthalen-2-one-based compound in a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing the decahydronaphthalen-2-one-based compound represented by general formula (2) [R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom, a 1-12C alkyl group, a 1-12C alkyloxy group or a cyclohexy group which may contain a 1-12C alkyl group] comprises oxidizing a decahydronaphthalen-2-ol-based compound represented by general formula (1) (R<SP>1</SP>is as shown above) in the presence of an alkali metal halide and an organic peroxide in an organic solvent. Consequently, the oxidation reaction is carried out under a mild condition and the objective high-purity product is obtained in a high yield.
