PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeding device and a recorder equipped with it capable of decreasing generation of colliding sounds by approaching and separating a feeder tray to hold media for recording to/from a feed roller under a control to be made electrically. SOLUTION: The feeding device for the recorder is equipped with a control device 22 to compute the moving amount of the feeder tray 10 and emit the control signal based upon the result from computation to a drive motor 18 so that a constant distance is maintained between the uppermost medium P on the tray 10 and the feed roller 13 in accordance with the residual amount of the media sensed by a means 20 which senses the residual amount of the media P on the tray 10.
