SOLID STATE IMAGE SENSING ELEMENT AND ITS DRIVE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem that the drive frequency of a solid sate image sensing element is exceptionally heightened when each pixel signal is independently read out with time division in obtaining motion signals from an image sensing element accommodating to still pictures in the solid sate image sensing element for a horizontal scan mode. SOLUTION: Color coding of a pixel 20 is performed by coding for making the same color over a plurality of pixels that are horizontally successive. FD sections 32 are arranged one by one for each of vertical CCDs 22 corresponding to the plurality of the pixels. Without performing time division independence readout, space down sampling at the time of motion pictures is performed effectively by enabling the same color addition to be performed in one FD section 32, thus reducing the drive frequency of the image sensing element.
