PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the LCD are provided to reduce the number of steps of a manufacturing process and decrease manufacturing costs. CONSTITUTION: An LCD includes the first and second glass substrates(10,20), and a liquid crystal layer(50) formed between the first and second glass substrates. The LCD further includes a color filter(12), a black matrix(14), and an overcoat film(16). The color filter has a plurality of color patterns(12a,12b,12c) formed on a plurality of pixel regions on the first glass substrate. The black matrix is formed on the first glass substrate to define the pixel regions. The overcoat film has a recess depressed toward the color filter such that the area in which the liquid crystal layer is arranged between the first and second glass substrates.
