Mobile station for determining amplification factors of a data channel and a control channel of a transmission system

The amplification factor determination method has a nominal ratio calculated from signalized reference amplification factors for the control channel and the data channel in a normal data transmission mode and used for providing the control channel and data channel amplification factors via rounding or an approximation process. When the data is transmitted in a compressed data mode a corrected nominal ratio is calculated from the nominal ratio and used for providing the amplification factors via rounding or approximation. Also included are Independent claims for the following: (a) a method for determining the ratio between the ratio between the data channel power and the control channel power in a data transmission system; (b) a method for determining the power ratio between a data channel and a control channel.
