Production of starch derivatives (I), comprises: (i) adjusting the molecular weight of a starting starch (II) by partial hydrolysis; (ii) derivatizing; and (iii) purifying and/or isolating, All aldehyde groups are completely modified between stages (i) and (ii). An independent claim is also included for the starch derivatives (I) obtained by the process. ACTIVITY : Vasotropic. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Volume therapy.
