PURPOSE: A method for calibrating a device location measurement system utilizing radio signal strengths is provided to determine a precise triangulated location in view of radio signal strengths at a given location by using an IEEE 802.11 location-based technique for coarsely calibrating a system. CONSTITUTION: A method of calibrating a system used to determine new location dependent on observed signal properties includes a measuring process and a generating process. The measuring process is performed to measure signal properties related to identified locations(202-206). The generating process is performed to generate a regression function based at least in part upon the signal properties(208). At this time, the function is used for estimating new location as a function of observed signal properties. |
