摘要 PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a thin film transistor substrate used for the LCD are provided to improve luminance and aperture ratio of the LCD. CONSTITUTION: A thin film transistor substrate(100) includes an insulating substrate, a gate line and a sustain electrode line(133a,133b) formed on the insulating substrate, a gate insulating layer(140) formed on the gate line, and a semiconductor layer(151,154) formed on the gate insulating layer. The thin film transistor substrate further includes a data line formed on the gate insulating layer to intersect the gate line and partially connected to the semiconductor layer, a drain electrode(175) separated from the data line and partially connected to the semiconductor layer, and a passivation layer covering the semiconductor layer or data line and having a contact hole(181) for exposing the drain electrode. The thin film transistor substrate also has a pixel electrode formed on the passivation layer and connected to the drain electrode through the contact hole, and a black matrix(220) having an opening corresponding to a pixel region surrounded by the gate line and data line. The opening part of the black matrix is superposed on the sustain electrode line, data line or gate line.
