PURPOSE: A computer input device having a function for detecting an angular displacement to a supporting surface is provided to simply move a pointer image on a large display screen. CONSTITUTION: A housing(41) partially forms an exterior of the input device and is equipped with a supporter for supporting the input device on the supporting surface. A tracking assembly(50) is placed in the housing, is operated in a translational mode for detecting a translational displacement of the input device against the supporting surface while the input device is contacted with the supporting surface, and is operated in an angular mode for detecting an angular displacement of the input device against the supporting surface while the input device is contacted with the supporting surface. A scroll wheel(46) selectively switches an operation of the tracking assembly between the translational mode and the angular mode. |
