The kitchen mixer has a mixing container, mixing/stirring rotor, electric motor drive and provision for heating the container, the temperature sensing means to switch the heater. The rotor (10) is driven by a motor (8) in order to mix the contents of the container (6). A temperature sensing arrangement (13) switches the heater depending upon the rate at which the temperature rises.
