PURPOSE: Provided is a biological production of lactic acid by culturing lactic acid-producing microorganisms in a natural medium consisting of wheat bran, thereby mass-producing lactic acid economically. CONSTITUTION: The culture medium is characteristically composed of wheat bran. It further contains carbohydrate, such as corn starch, whole-wheat flour, whole corn flour, etc. Lactic acid is produced by culturing Bacillus sp., lactobacillus sp., Lactococcus sp., Streptococcus sp., Enterococcus sp., etc., in the medium at 30-50 deg.C, pH 4.5-8.0 under anaerobic condition.
