PURPOSE: A method and a device for inputting Chinese-character pinyin having a tone mark are provided to facilitate pinyin input when the Chinese-character pinyin is inputted. CONSTITUTION: A user interface(12) is equipped with keys for inputting the Chinese-character pinyin. A display part(16) displays the Chinese-character pinyin. A memory(18) stores vowels having the tone mark by matching with the keys of the user interface. A controller(10) matches a vowel series having each tone of the inputted vowel with each key and displays the vowel series to the display part if the vowel to express the tone is inputted, and displays the vowel marked with the tone of the selected key if one key is selected.
