An object of the present invention is to provide a spontaneous light emitting type display device of a low power consumption, which suppresses fluctuation in characteristics of driving elements of light emitting pixels and has no fluctuation in light emitting luminance of a light emitting element. For each of a plurality of light emitting pixels arranged in a matrix state, a photoelectric converting portion serving to receive a light emitted from the light emitting pixels is provided, so that a current flowing to the light emitting pixels is controlled by using a voltage obtained from the photoelectric converting portion. The device further includes a means for suppressing luminance variation of the light emitting pixel even when the conversion gain of the photoelectric portion varies.
