The device has a measuring unit (12) for measuring a time interval between an instant and a current instant and for activating an activation signal of a pointing device when the time interval exceeds a preset duration. An activating unit (16) activates a modification signal of the device and sends the modification signal towards a computer with the reception of the activation signal. An independent claim is also included for a process of avoiding activation of a screen saver of a computer.
