A printing process that enables colour printing of high definition and enhanced colour intensity includes applying an image to a glossy substrate using an ink jet printing process, allowing the printed image to dry and subsequently applying a thin film coating of an organic liquid to the image. The organic liquid can be a non volatile hydrocarbon based liquid or mineral spirits.
