<p>Treating biological effluents containing ammonium comprising a step of passing the effluent into a reactor containing a biomass capable of degrading ammonium to the gaseous state, which is at least partly fixed to a support with a specific surface 500 m<2>/m<3> or more, is new. The step is carried out under moderate aeration, without stirring, with little or no introduction of biodegradable carbon and with a minimum of alkaline reagents. An Independent claim is also included for an installation to implement the process comprising a reactor equipped with means of introducing the effluent, supports for the biomass, means of continuous aeration, means of removing slurries and the treated effluent and means for measuring and correcting the alkalinity of the effluent and an alarm system triggerable when the alkalinity and/or pH deviate from predetermined values.</p> |
