PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide matte coated paper which improves ink transferring that is an inherent problem of the matte coated paper, and has low white paper whiteness and high printed paper glossiness. SOLUTION: This matte coated paper having a coating layer comprising a pigment and an adhesive on raw paper is characterized by containing heavy calcium carbonate having a particle diameter distribution containing 0.4 to 1.5μm diameter particles in an amount of≥60 vol. %, in an amount of≥20 pts. wt. to 100 pts. wt. of the pigment and further kaolin having a particle diameter distribution containing 0.4 to 4.2μm diameter particles in an amount of≥65 vol. %, in an amount of≥20 pts. wt.
