<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize higher heat insulation than conventional types in a catalytic converter provided with a plurality of catalytic carriers. <P>SOLUTION: This catalytic converter 10, wound with one sheet of retaining seal member 24 so as to cover the outer peripheries of a first and a second catalytic carriers 18, 20 disposed at an arbitrary interval along the axial direction of a casing 12. Between both the catalytic carriers 18, 20, there is no portion where the retaining seal member does not exist. With this constitution, while exhaust gas is passing through both the catalytic carriers 18, 20, the exhaust gas comes into no direct contact with the casing 12.
