PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device capable of reducing the labor required to fit/remove an image receiving paper roll and reducing the raw material cost by structuring a support shaft part inserted into the center hole of the image receiving paper roll compact. SOLUTION: This image receiving paper roll 4 holding device 1 set in an image forming apparatus is provided with a pair of holding walls 2 arranged opposite to both end surfaces of the image receiving paper roll 4, and a pair of support shafts 3 supported by the holding walls 2 and inserted to the center hole 4a of the image receiving paper roll 4. At least any one of the support shaft 3 of the pair of support shafts 3 is formed into a falling support shaft so that the support shaft 3 is inserted/drawn to/from the center hole 4a of the image receiving paper roll 4 with the movement of the image receiving paper roll 4 to put it in/out of a space between the pair of holding walls 2 by fitting the support shaft to the holding wall 2 freely to move between a support position P1 rising from the holding wall 2 and a retreating position P2 fallen along the holding wall 2.
