PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head in which connection resistance between a first coil piece and a second coil piece is small, magnetic saturation is difficult to be made and magnetization efficiency is improved. SOLUTION: A plurality of first coil pieces 55 covered by a coil insulation layer 36 is formed in line along a height direction in a space surrounded by alower core layer 29 a protrusion layer 32 and a back gap layer 33. A plurality of second coil pieces 56 is formed in line along the height direction on a laminated body 62, which is formed on the layers 36, 32 and 33, through an insulation layer 58. A pulling-up layer 80 is formed between a lower core layer 29 and the pieces 55. The pieces 55 and 56 are contacted at the top of the layer 80 through contact surfaces 81 that are exposed from the layer 36. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
