PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus which can freely control a light irradiation timing by a simple configuration and can obtain quality high images. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus 1 has a support 7 for transferring supporting a recording medium 2, a recording head 13 with nozzles for discharging a photo-curing ink towards the recording medium supported by the support, and a light irradiation device 100a. The light irradiation device 100a includes a light source 101, and a reflecting member 102 for reflecting light emitted from the light source towards a predetermined irradiation position on the recording medium. The light irradiation device 100a arranged at the downstream side of the recording head in a transfer direction X of the support casts light to the ink impacting on the recording medium, thereby hardening the ink. The reflecting light by the reflecting member is cast to the inside of an area of an opening opposed to the recording medium at the reflecting member. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
