PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method for a diamond giving higher brilliance and enabling observation of a heart and arrow phenomenon, and to provide a diamond obtained by the method. SOLUTION: Five pavilion main facets are formed so that positions about 15 degrees shifted from a ridge of a crystal of a diamond ore on the pavilion formation side become ridges, and ten pavilion main facets are formed making theses as bases. On the pavilion side of the diamond 1, ten pavilion main facets 19 are formed around an acute culet 18 as a center, and twenty lower girdle facets 20 are formed between them.
