PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus which eliminates a large power supply device because an instantaneous power consumption can be restricted, and can obtain images of a high image quality by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus 1 has a lined recording head 100a with a nozzle array set at the total width in a width direction of a recording medium 2, and a transfer device 4 for transferring the recording medium in an orthogonal direction to its width direction. The recording head is divided to three or more nozzle array blocks 110, 120, 130 and 140 with respective nozzle arrays 111, 112, 121, 122, 131, 132, 141 and 142 in the width direction of the recording medium. The nozzle array blocks have the respective nozzle arrays arranged with a shift each other in a transfer direction X of the recording medium by the transfer device so that each ink discharge timing of the nozzle array becomes a timing with a different time lag from an ink discharge timing reference signal synchronous with a printing resolution.
