A protective coating and a method for applying the protective coating to a wall of a freezer enclosure includes applying a screen to the wall wherein the screen includes a plurality of intersecting elements forming a plurality of openings. One or more coatings of a polymer are then applied to the screen in a sufficient quantity to coat the screen and permeate the plurality of openings through to the wall. The polymer is then allowed to solidify or cure thereby creating a temperature, abrasion and chemical resistant protective coating an or within the freezer enclosure.
