UBIQUITIN FUSED GENE PROMOTER AND UTILIZATION THEREOF

From rice root, the 5' upstream region of a ubiquitin fused gene (ubiquitin/ribosomal protein S27a gene), which is expressed specifically in root, is isolated and DNA in this upstream region is analyzed. As the results of intensive studies, a DNA sequence having a promoter function of root-specifically controlling gene expression is successfully specified. Use of this promoter makes it possible to root-specifically express a foreign gene.
