<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sheet bundle with the thickness larger than the staplable thickness from being stapled. <P>SOLUTION: A sheet post-processing device comprises a sheet stacking part 305 with sheets stacked therein, a stapler to staple sheets stacked in the sheet stacking part, a sheet pressing part 400 to press the sheets stacked in the sheet stacking part 305 against the sheet stacking part, a position detection unit 420 to detect the position of the sheet pressing part when the sheets are pressed, a staple-permissible sheet bundle thickness storage unit to store the sheet bundle thickness at which the stapler can staple the sheet bundle, and a control unit to control the stapler so as not to be operated based on position information from the position detection unit 420 when the thickness of the sheet bundle on the sheet stacking part 305 exceeds the staple-permissible sheet bundle thickness stored in the staple-permissible sheet bundle thickness storage unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
