<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master cylinder device guaranteeing a smooth motion of a stroke simulator and a smooth operation of the master cylinder itself without upsizing the master cylinder. <P>SOLUTION: The master cylinder device is configured so that a brake liquid of a hydraulic pressure chamber 13 in the master cylinder 4 is introduced to the cylinder body 10 of the master cylinder 4 of tandem type connected with a wheel cylinder through a failsafe valve and the stroke simulator 5 to secure the requisite stroke of a brake pedal is attached externally. In this master cylinder device 1, a liquid passage 6 to put the hydraulic pressure chamber 13 in communication with the stroke simulator 5 is set in the neighborhood of a piston seal 19 with respect to a secondary piston 12 in the retreated position, and an actuator rod 72 of a tilt valve 7 installed inside the liquid passage 6 is brought into/out of contact with the secondary piston 12 so as to open the liquid passage 6, and when the control system is in failure, the end of the secondary piston 12 is separated from the actuator rod 7, and the liquid passage 6 is closed by the tilt valve 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
