<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor having a superior temperature property and a resistance to splashing water, which can effectively reduce temperature variations in a sensor element and water attached thereto caused by gas to be measured going into there, without lowering its response property. <P>SOLUTION: The gas sensor 10A is provided with a protective cover 14 including an inner side protective cover 16 which covers at least a top section of the sensor element 12, an outer side protective cover 18 which covers the inner side protective cover 16 and a middle protective cover 20 which is disposed between the inner side protective cover 16 and the outer side protective cover 18. The protective cover 14 satisfies following equation: A1/A2≥1, where A1 is a total aperture area of multiple inner gas introducing holes 22 being disposed in the inner side protective cover 16, and A2 is a total aperture area of multiple outer gas introducing holes 34 being disposed in the outer side protective cover 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
