PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program information recording device that can eliminate the need for complicated operations, such as acquiring the information concerning a program in advance before performing various settings, not to miss a desired program. SOLUTION: In the program information recording device, a program information management unit 6 assigns priority to each of the programs that are selected to be recorded automatically. A program information recording unit 7 records the programs selected to be recorded automatically on a recording unit. A storage information management unit 3 performs a processing to reduce the amount of recorded data in the recording unit at a predetermined timing based on the priorities assigned to the recorded programs. This makes it possible to eliminate the need of a complicated reserve operation, such as previously acquiring information related to the programs to perform various settings, not to miss desired programs.
