PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully carry out a cleaning operation for a recording head by preventing adhesion of ink in the case of using a high-viscosity ultraviolet curing ink as the ink for image recording. SOLUTION: An ink-jet printer has the recording heads 4, 4 and the like for discharging the ink onto a recording medium P, and a cleaning mechanism 11 for cleaning the recording heads 4, 4 and the like.
