1,167,106. Cooled illuminating system. PAILLARD S.A. 23 Jan., 1968 [24 Feb., 1967], No. 3389/68. Heading F4R. An illumination system is cooled by air entering through slots 8 in a plastics casing 1, passing upwards on either side of a partition 7 and out through slots 9. A reflector 2 is secured to the casing by a bolt 5 but is otherwise not in contact with the casing 1. A quartz-halogen bulb 4 passes through a hole 12 in reflector 2 and is mounted in ceramic socket 3, an opening 11 being provided for air to cool the socket. Supporting wires 14 allow the illumination system to be placed against a surface without actually damaging the surface. In an alternative arrangement the socket 3 may be attached to the reflector 2 by an intermediate member which reduces heat transmission between the socket and the reflector. Alternatively, the socket may be mounted on the casing through an intermediate member having fins. |
