The refrigerating unit has a portable housing structure with photovoltaic generator (1) and energy converter (2). It has two different sized individually switchable speed-controllable coolant compressors (4.1, 4.2) with one or two heat exchangers (5) and refrigerant carrier circuit in which a through flow refrigerator (7) cools the still warm freshly supplied milk. A separate ice store (9) separated from the milk refrigerating tank (8) stores the excess coolant energy. The ratio of input powers of the two compressors is one third to two thirds. Back-up connections are provided for different current sources.
