PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device, and an electronic equipment having the same are provided to improve brightness and contrast, and obtain display of a wide viewing angle. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal layer is interposed between a pair of substrates, formed of liquid crystal of which dielectric anisotropy is negative, wherein initial alignment is vertical alignment. A plurality of dot areas(P1,P2) are formed in an image display area. In each dot area, a transmissive display area(T) executing transmissive display and a reflective display area(R) executing reflective display are formed. The transmissive display areas or the reflective display areas of the adjacent dot areas are formed at positions contacting with edges of the dot areas so that the liquid crystal is slantingly aligned in opposite direction by a boundary electric field generated at each edge when a voltage is applied.
