PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device and a tape printer that quickly and simply select setting conditions for setting items and improves the operability. SOLUTION: When a "capital letter" or the like is stored in a sequence box following a sequence box specified after the sequence box where a current set font type is stored is specified from among "Sequence 1 " to "Sequence 5" in S61 (S62:Yes), return to a main flowchart after the font type stored in a subsequent sequence box is put into a new character input mode in S63. When the "capital character" or the like is not stored in the sequence box following the sequence box specified (S62:No), after the first sequence box in which the "capital letter" or the like is stored is specified from among "Sequence 1" to "Sequence 5" of the "Shift" and the font type stored in the sequence box is put into a new character input mode in S64, return to the main flowchart.
