PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause an optimum device to be an object to be controlled corresponding to conditions after the move of the device, even if the device connected to a network is moved. SOLUTION: An HDTV 108 selects a suitable device from among devices on a network composed of devices connected to outlets 101-105 and controls the selected device. The HDTV 108 stores the position information of each of the devices on the network, information about functions of each of the devices, kinds and the number of the devices needed by the HDTV 108, the position and direction where the required device exists, a distance from its own device, and its room number.
