PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image forming apparatus using a dry two-component or monocomponent developer capable of forming no hollow image of high image quality when a toner image on an image carrier is transferred to a recording material. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises at least a means to form an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier, developing means to form images on the image carrier by using toners, a primary transfer means to transfer the toner images formed on the image carrier to an intermediate transfer member, and a secondary transfer means to transfer the toner images on the intermediate transfer member onto a recording material. In the image forming apparatus, centrifugal force is sequentially applied at prescribed rotational frequencies to uncharged toners on the image carrier or the intermediate transfer member in a direction perpendicular to the sticking surface, and when value obtained by averaging centrifugal force acting on released toners with respect to each released toner at all the rotational frequencies is represented by Fne, and Fne in terms of the image carrier and Fne in terms of the intermediate transfer member are represented by Fne(P) and Fne(T), respectively, the ratio Fne(P)/Fne(T) between Fne(P) and Fne(T) is≤1.
