PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device, and its manufacturing method, with a track of electron beams easily controlled and discharge toward the side of an electron emission source restrained, and with reliability and display quality improved. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a first base plate 10 having a phosphor screen, a second base plate arranged in opposition to the first base plate with an interval and fitted with a plurality of electron emission sources 18 for exciting the phosphor screen. A plurality of spacers 30a, 30b are provided between these first and second base plates for supporting an atmospheric pressure load acting on the base plates. Each spacer is divided into a plurality of portions on the way between the first and the second base plates arrayed with gaps, and is provided with a plurality of divided parts 42 in contact with the second base plate.
