METHOD FOR PRODUCING TEREPHTHALIC ACID DIESTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a terephthalic acid diester through rapidly raising reaction temperature to a level higher than the boiling point of the alcohol. SOLUTION: The method for producing the terephthalic acid diester by carrying out an esterification reaction between terephthalic acid and a monohydric alcohol involves starting the reaction in the presence of a compound having a higher boiling point than the monohydric alcohol as a raw material( i.e. a higher-boiling compound ), wherein it is preferable that the boiling point of the higher-boiling compound is lower than that of the final terephthalic acid diester.
