PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate variation in the thickness of a machined lens, to adjust a tool pan while promoting partial wear of the pan, to simplify work, and to keep the stability of machining accuracy and facilitate accuracy adjustment while shortening preparing time. SOLUTION: The lens spherical surface polishing device has a function capable of pressurizing a machined lens against the tool pan having a spherical surface from an axis passing a spherical center of the tool pan, and a feeding function capable of moving in parallel with the axis. The lens spherical surface polishing device has a rocking element rotatably supporting the tool pan, and having a spherical surface and rocking about the same point as the spherical center of the tool pan. The rocking element is supported by a spherical air bearing, and the center of the spherical air bearing is made to be same as the spherical center of the tool pan. In the rocking element, a detent for the rocking element is installed on a line parallel with a rotating surface of the tool pan and passing the spherical center of the tool pan. A bow-shaped cam is used for a center adjusting mechanism of a rocking angle, thereby setting a rocking angle center. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
