The device has a plate-shaped support member, which is fixed ventrally on successive vertebrae. It has support plates spaced apart, which are arranged against the side of the support member facing the spinal column, the distance between them being adjustable. Between the support plates (3,4,13) a shear lift bar (5) with an operating screw (8) is arranged for bracing the support plates. The operating screw is rotatably located in the support member (2), and on the side of the support member opposite to the support plates a tool extension (9) is provided.
