<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure improved radio wave transmission properties and to improve cosmetic design properties, such as solidity, as compared with before by securing a solid external shape on the outer surface of a cover for a radar device. <P>SOLUTION: The cover 10 for radar devices covers the outer surface side of the radar device 12 of a vehicle for transmitting/receiving radio waves. Then, the cover 10 comprises a cosmetic design appearance giving layer 18, such as a polycarbonate board, for pivotally supporting the solid outer shape of the cover having radio wave transmission properties; a retention layer 20, such as a styrofoam, having radio wave transmission properties in contact with the inner surface of the cosmetic design appearance giving layer 18; a resin plate 24 in contact with the inner surface of the retention layer 20; and an annular belt-like resin layer 26 for connecting the cosmetic design appearance giving layer 18 and the resin plate 24 in one piece and for covering the entire periphery of the side of the retention layer 20. Additionally, the resin plate 24 has thickness essentially equal to the integer multiples ofλe/(2εp<SP>1/2</SP>) obtained by dividing a half wavelength by the square of a dielectric constant with the wavelength of radio waves transmitted by the radar device 12 asλe, and the dielectric constant of resin for composing the resin plate 24 asεp. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
