PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the labor for preparation for use and storage of a retaining plate in a road paving machine. SOLUTION: A retaining plate 24 is hinge-connected to the rear end portions of both the side surfaces of a machine, and two-articulation stays 25 and 26 are erected to the machine and retaining plate. The retaining plate and the two-knot stays folded along the side surface of the machine are extended, and the retaining plate can be fixed to an usable state by drawing a connecting point of the two-knot stay thereby getting over the dead point. The retaining plate is folded, and a knob 28 of a spring offset type lock pin 31 provided at the side surface of the machine is pulled, and a pin hole 36 formed to the retaining plate is positioned to the lock pin, and the lock pin is inserted to the pin hole and then the retaining plate is fixed in a folded state.
