PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a mechanism resonance frequency changing between individual devices or by using a temperature change by a simple algorithm within a short time, to correct a target locus for damping mechanism resonance in accordance with the fluctuation of a vibration frequency, and to always minimize a seeking time irrespective of the fluctuation of use environment conditions. SOLUTION: Movement is made within a time shorter than a normal seeking time, 1 to several track distances are sought, the vibration component of main mechanism resonance is excited, and a current value and a positional error are sampled. The current value and the positional error signal are processed by using a band pass filter within an assumed frequency range, and a mechanism resonance model is estimated by the method of least squares. An acceleration pattern at the time of head movement is described by using a calculation equation such as the transmission function model or a polynomial for a step input, an overlapping time is changed based on the estimated mechanism resonance frequency, the step response of the locus generator is added, a target locus for driving a head without exciting mechanism resonance is generated, and a control target is quickly moved to a target track by feedforward control.
