PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit that realizes a high speed operation and environmental requirements at relatively low costs, a recorder having the unit, and a method for production of it. SOLUTION: The fixing unit for fixing toner to recording paper includes: a heat fixing roller; a heating part which heats the heat fixing roller; a pressure part which applies pressure to the heat fixing roller; and a drive gear mounted on the heat fixing roller in order to rotate the heat fixing roller. The outside diameter of the heat fixing roller is set so as to be greater than the inside diameter of the drive gear when the heat fixing roller is in the state of being heated by the heating part.
