PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample collecting auxiliary implement capable of forming a large number of collection holes in soil covering a wide area, preventing the collapse of the inner wall surfaces of the collection holes while volatile gases are collected, and efficiently collecting a prescribed quantity of gases collected in the collection holes provided in the soil. SOLUTION: The sample collecting auxiliary implement is constituted by fastening a protective pipe (12) to be inserted in each gas collection hole (11) bored in the soil to a hole part (26a) of a lid body (26) provided with fasteners (27). The upper end of a lower tube (16) provided with a large number of small holes (17) for its circumferential surface is fastened to a lower part of an upper tube (14) formed in approximately half the depth of the collection hole. A lower part of a reinforcing pipe (18) inserted over the external side of a flexible tube (22) inserted inside the upper and lower tubes is fastened to a lower part of the flexible tube (22) by a lower rubber plug (21). The lower end of the flexible tube is protruded from the lower end. A gap part (23) is provided between the lower rubber plug and the inner surface of the lower tube.
