PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling efficiency of a motor for compressing carbon dioxide. SOLUTION: A compression means 4 is formed of a pre-stage compressing part 11a and a post-stage compressing part 11b, and a piston 41 of each compressing part is driven by the power of the motor 2 to compress the carbon dioxide. At the time, in cooling the motor 2, a liquid refrigerant introduction pipe 85 for extracting some of a liquefied or liquefacted refrigerant by a refrigerating circuit and guiding the same to a motor chamber 18 is provided, a nozzle 86 is provided at the tip thereof, and the refrigerant is jetted to the motor to be cooled. The compressor is provided with a temperature detector 88 for detecting the motor temperature to regulate the quantity of a refrigerant extracted depending on the motor temperature, and a flow regulator 89 controlled according to a signal from the temperature detector.
