PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of a capacitor when a heating device provided with the capacitor as an auxiliary power source is used in a fixing device, etc., of an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A main heating body 2a and an auxiliary heating body 2b are provided in a heating part 2. Power is fed to the main heating body 2a from a main power source device 3, and to the auxiliary heating body 2b from an auxiliary power source device 4 using the capacitor C. Rising of temperature of a fixing roll 40 is sped up by carrying out power feeding from the capacitor C to the auxiliary heating body 2b. The voltage of the capacitor C is lowered by, for example, 0.1V/cell, when the device is in an energy saving mode, the temperature t0 of the fixing roll 40 detected by a temperature sensor S is higher than the room temperature, and power does not need to be fully fed to the auxiliary heating body 2b from the capacitor C in starting time; the service life is prolonged.
